POSSIBLE FEMA ASSISTANCE FOR FLOOD DAMAGE

December 22, 2023

Oxford County is asking towns to collect private citizen primary home damage in our community. They are hoping that FEMA teams will review citizen damage at some point in the near future. If the county is able to present enough information on private citizen damage assessments the process will go as follows: meet with local officials regarding citizen damages in your community and visit homes with major damage in the most logical and expedient order, focusing on destroyed or major damage first. This would be to assess if we qualify for federal assistance for private citizens in Oxford County. This is a similar process to Public Assistance to provide federal assistance to your municipalities, but the damage thresholds are not as clear cut for private citizen assistance. These assessments and collection of this information does not guarantee assistance. We are encouraging all citizens with home owners insurance to make an insurance claim first to show that all other resources have been exhausted.

We need the following information:

  1. Citizen Names
  2. Citizen Primary Home Address where damage to home occurred
  3. Citizen Contact Phone Number
  4. Brief statement of damages at their home
  5. Photographs of the damage incurred at homes are necessary for this assessment (please label with address or citizen name)
