Select Board
The Town of Bethel Select Board is composed of five members, each of whom is elected by secret ballot in June for three-year staggered terms by the registered voters of the entire Town. The candidate receiving the greatest number of votes for a given seat on the Board shall be considered a member of the Board upon taking an oath of office. Each member shall be a registered voter of the Town of Bethel throughout his/her tenure on the Board.
The Board shall exercise all powers, and assume all responsibilities, now or hereafter given by law to municipal officers. The Bethel Select Board also constitutes the governing body or trustees of the Wastewater Treatment Department.
The Town of Bethel Select Board meets at 6PM on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month unless otherwise noted. They meet at the Bethel Town Office (19 Main Street) in the Town Meeting Room.

It is the intention of this subchapter that the select board as a body shall exercise all administrative and executive powers of the town except as provided in this subchapter. The select board shall deal with the administrative services solely through the town manager and may not give orders to any subordinates of the manager, either publicly or privately. This section does not prevent the select board from appointing committees or commissions of its own members or of citizens to conduct investigations into the conduct of any official or department, or any matter relating to the welfare of the town.

Duties & Responsibilities
There is a five-member Board of Assessors. They are elected for three-year staggered terms by the registered voters of the entire Town in the same election cycle utilized for the Select Board.
