Department of Public Works

The Bethel Public Works Department is a vital component of our municipal government. Public Works is responsible for a wide variety of functions including maintenance of the town’s infrastructure, roads, sidewalks, and bridges. The Public Works crew is responsible for street sweeping, pothole repair, sidewalk maintenance, storm drain maintenance, marking crosswalks, trimming, ditching, snow removal and sand/salt operations. The department also manages the town’s solid waste and recycling programs, as well as the transfer station. There is an in-house mechanic who maintains the fleet of vehicles and trucks. The Public Works Department is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of town owned buildings and grounds, including parks and cemeteries.
